A sophisticated malware, called Gyges, created by the Russian government for cyberespionage operations is now being used by hackers. Sentinel Labs discovered the malware stated that this was no surprise as it is a clear example of how government –created malware are repurposed, modularized and coupled with other malware for cybercriminal purposes. The fact that this malware can latch on to other malware makes it much more difficult to detect, along with its anti-tampering and anti-detection techniques.
