Iran has made headlines in the past several weeks over cybersecurity related issues. The first was an announcement of a specialized cyber war drill to run concurrently with several war games throughout the year. The second news was a revelation by the Guardian that Iranian cyber units are in control of over 16,000 computer systems outside of its territory. Earlier in the year, the head of Iran’s Civil Defence Organisation stated Iran would like to develop a smart domestic cyber defense model to underline the country’s full preparedness to defend its infrastructure from foreign cyberattacks. This model will rest on an Iranian-made cyber defense system with advanced technologies and the vast experience of its cyber soldiers.
